Dupray Tosca Review

The Dupray Tosca is a heavy-duty industrial-type steam cleaner. It’s ideal for larger, longer, and tougher cleaning jobs. When I first got my Tosca, I cleaned for about 6 hours straight. It’s so satisfying to see dirt get lifted so fast, leaving a super clean surface. I couldn’t stop! I let my husband try it, and he cleaned it for hours too.

Steam cleaners are best on non-porous surfaces (solid surfaces). You can use it on couches, car upholstery, and more, but you should test it in an inconspicuous spot first. Keep the hottest part at the tip far enough from the fabric so as not to burn or discolor it.

I purchased my Tosca over 5 years ago. So I’ve had several years of experience using it, and it’s held up wonderfully. In full disclosure, I had an issue with it not getting to full steam at one point. I sent it back to be looked at by the company. I couldn’t tell if I got a new unit or the same one back, but there’s not been a problem since. So I know they stand behind their product.

Who Is it Best For?

Tosca is best for someone who has allergies or is sensitive to chemicals because it kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria. You can use chemicals first, then wipe them and steam them after. If you use it when the chemical is still on the surface to clean, it can spread into the air, which may not be healthy to breathe in.

Warranty

The Tosca is an investment, but this steam cleaner is sturdy, quality, and meant to last. If you take care of it by doing the maintenance, it should last decades. Here is the warranty:

LIFETIME WARRANTY on BOILER, 3 YEARS on BODY

How to Use the Tosca Steam Cleaner

Dupray Tosca Steam Cleaner
  1. Fill the boiler with 4L of water using the bottle that came with the cleaner.
  2. Make sure to push down the lid properly to avoid spillage.
  3. Click on the power button (located on the back) and the display will show the current temperature of the device.
  4. Then to get it to steam, you also have to push down the Boiler Activation Switch. If you do not do this step, the machine won’t get hotter.
  5. Wait for 10 minutes and the Steam Ready Indicator will light up which means it is ready to use.
  6. When you’re running out of water and need to refill, the low water indicator will light up. You will need to release as much steam as possible and wait for it to cool down before removing the lid and adding more water.

If you use tap water, use as hot as possible to cut down on heating time.

How to attach the lance and other attachments

  1. To attach the brush or any attachment, first put on the lance tool, then line up the grooves on both the end of the lance and the attachment.
  2. Put pressure on it until it clicks and you’re good to go.
  3. To use the attachments, you just have to line up the black ridge with the top. There must be a clicking sound in order to determine that they fit together. This also applies if you want to add another attachment.

Note that you don’t add the lance tool to attach the larger attachments.

Safety Tip

For safety reasons, once the Tosca is turned on, never touch the tip of the sprayer because it heats up and can burn really fast. It is best to keep the steam cleaner out of reach from pets and children. Never point the steam at someone else.

What We Like About Tosca Steam Cleaner

The Tosca has a modern, sleek look plus it has wheels, making it easy to transfer from one area to another. And we also love the cord holder at the back that keeps everything in place when you store it.

Plus, you can use regular tap water on the Dupray Tosca Steam Cleaner. It doesn’t require that you use distilled water but it’s recommended (especially if you have hard water). If you use tap water, you have to clean out the minerals after 10 uses. Regardless, you should clean it out for every 30 hours of use. An indicator light will go on to tell you it’s time to descale the boiler. I’m in the habit of emptying the boiler (pouring out any water left inside after it’s cooled) once I’m finished cleaning.

The Tosca also has a bolt at the bottom of the boiler where you can drain and clean out build-up. This is important maintenance that will help your steam cleaner last for years.

The Tosca is a commercial-level steam cleaner. It’s great for cleaning grout, counters, sinks, stoves, stainless steel, toilets and showers. You can also use it for spot cleaning upholstery, but we recommend testing out a spot first to ensure that it doesn’t damage the fabric.

It’s good for detailing the exterior and interior of cars including the rims. I’ve used it on my car a lot and I love how it looks and smells. For more reference, you may also want to watch our Car Steam Cleaning video.

You don’t need to hold down the steam button, there’s a feature that locks it on. You have more control and can use both hands to clean. With other steam cleaners, your finger can get tired holding the steam button down. This is a must-have feature.

Here’s one review from a happy user:

Used it for the first time today. Now I’m a cleaning addict. This machine is amazing. I can’t believe how much steam it can put out and wow, it cleans like nothing I’ve ever used before and no chemicals are required.
